The Orange County Antique Auto Club held its annual meeting on Friday, January 6, 2012. The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley was honored to be presented with a generous donation by Vice-President Bob Hull. On the evening of Tuesday, January 10th Brasserie 292 helped raise funds for the Food Bank of the Hudson by donating 10% of its proceeds for every dinner sold.
Thank you for joining them for dinner in the effort to do your part in the fight against hunger.’ Brasserie 292 is one of the great new restaurants finding a home on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. With its informal atmosphere and a menu that won’t induce sticker shock, Brasserie 292 has a large, eclectic mix of offerings with a little something for everyone.
ShopRite’s legendary Can Can which kicked off in January has come to an end, and thanks to all the people who liked them on Facebook over 40,000 cans of food are destined to Food Banks throughout the region. To make this year’s Can Can even more special, a charitable component was added to lend support to their Food Bank partners in the communities they serve.
ShopRite launched a program called Cans for Fans, and donated one can of food for each fan on the official ShopRite Facebook page. Thanks to all who Spread the word and reached out to your friends on Facebook. ShopRite on Facebook 
Check Out Hunger is a major fundraiser for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Supermarket chains and independent markets in six counties - Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Dutchess, Ulster and Rockland participate in this campaign annually. Placards, with tear-off coupon pads of $1, $3, $5 denominations are positioned at all cashier checkout counters in the supermarkets. Shoppers tear off a coupon, hand it to the cashier and the donation is added to their food bill. It’s so simple and sooooo generous! Thank you.

In these difficult economic times, more and more households are turning to food pantries to help them get by. People, who never imagined that they would need the services offered by soup kitchens and food pantries, are showing up in greater numbers than ever before.
